Six hand grenades blew up at dawn Monday in different areas of Corniche al-Mazraa district in western Beirut without causing any casualties, local Naharnet website reported.
The blasts took place in Corniche al-Mazraa, where fierce clashes staged in May between Pro-government Sunni and Hezbollah-led Shiite opposition supporters left dozens dead. So far no casualties have been reported, but the blasts caused damage to nearby cars and shops.
Security forces were dispatched to the neighborhood, and patrols have been intensified in the streets.
The explosions came one day before a national dialogue due to start at the presidential palace on Tuesday, and following a series of reconciliation proposed by Sunni majority leader MP SaadHariri in northern Lebanon and the Bekaa regions.
"With tight lips, as if being forced by the President of the United States, Binyamin Netanyahu succeeded in saying that if and when and maybe and perhaps, he would be willing for there to be something obvious, something that Israel signed on to long ago and that he himself adopted 13 years ago.” - Ofer Shelah, writing in Maariv
